Evaluation 

Overall I think the performance went really well and smoothly on the night. When we had first arrived at Stanley halls we had to adapt to the space in literally a few hours whilst going through our first and only dress rehearsal, I think everyone was at least a bit nervous before performing in front of the audience as it was our final piece of year 11 and a few mistakes were made in the dress rehearsal, but personally I think the performance went really well as when mistakes were made we carried on going without losing character.In conclusion I think this was a extremely effective piece and a fantastic performance.

The first chapter involves a subplot in which the Gentlemen of Last Resort, a secret society serving the crown, urgently set out for Port Mercia in the Great Southern Pelagic Ocean to seek the next man in the British line of succession: Henry Fanshaw, the unsuspecting governor of England's oceanic territories. Fanshaw's 13-year-old daughter, Ermintrude, is one of the novel's two protaginist. The other protagonist, Mau, is an aboriginal native of the Nation who is first depicted alone at neighbouring Boys' Island, where he has hand-built a canoe to complete his initiation from boyhood into manhood. Ermintrude, meanwhile, is leisurely travelling aboard British a schooner, the Sweet Judy, led by a ruthless Cox, are subdued and set adrift at sea.

Starting the play 

Before we got given our characters and started rehearsing the play we had a couple of classes to read through the script and get to grips with the play, when I first read through the script it was a little confusing at first, with all the characters and the storyline etc, but after a while I soon understood the play and how effective the piece was, so overall I was really excited about this piece as it was really different than the other performances I have done before. it is filled with great characters with different personalities, even if they are not a 'big' part for example I was really excited when I got given the role as a raider because I got to explore using different acting techniques to portray my character, using my body language, facial expressions, projection at full capacity at all times. After we read through the script we had to go in groups of 3-5 in which we got given one scene so we could give our own ideas about the scene to the class, which proved to be really effective as we used a lot of those ideas in the performance, making it more of a class effort.

 My main roles and how I portrayed them

Islander 1

for my role as an starving islander (islander 1) I had use my body language to portray the fact that my character is starving and near to death, and also use my voice in a weakened way but projecting so that my voice was heard by everyone


 All raiders were wearing this for the performance for extra effect

Raider

for my role as the raider I had to be very physical with my body and also my face as my role as one of the raiders was to be a savage, I accomplished this by moving my body 'beast like' and also growling at the same time.
